China Trip Planner
Pick a city, tap what you want to see, eat, and do — the planner keeps each day realistic (9 sightseeing hours a day) and budgets travel time when you change cities. Everything saves in your browser; print it (or save as PDF) when you're done. Free, no sign-up.
Not sure where to start?
Answer two questions and we'll draft a starting itinerary from our editors' top picks — you can rearrange, swap, or delete anything afterward below.
Tip: click a day's header to make it the active day — new picks land there. Travel between cities is added automatically and counts against that day's hours.
How the planner builds your days
The engine gives every day roughly nine usable hours — what you actually get after breakfast, transit, and the queue you didn't plan for. Each sight carries a realistic on-site duration set by our editors: the Forbidden City blocks out half a day, a lane like Kuanzhai Alley takes ninety minutes. Add more than a day holds and it overflows visibly into the next one instead of pretending you can do eight things before lunch.
Cross-city moves are the part most itineraries get wrong. When your route jumps from Beijing to Xi'an, the planner deducts a door-to-door rail budget — station transfers included, not just the timetable number — from that day's hours automatically. Everything stays in your browser (nothing uploads unless you ask for a review), and the print view strips the interface so you can carry a clean paper copy. What it can't know: temporary closures and sold-out tickets. Cross-check popular sights against the crowd calendar and book trains via the train ticket guide once dates firm up.
